How to Kill a Blogger

LOL - Seems too easy to set up a blog.. it is to a certian extent. But problems can arise if you are trying to go more 'Professional'. Some will quit blogging for interesting reasons. I've got a small list of problems that we bloggers have to face and why some quit [in no order]:

1. Communities. Some are easy to get into and very glad to have you join. Other places are 'hard-nosed' and you have to meet their 'standards'. I've recieved rejections from 3 different communities - but working on getting in with them. Some will quit because they cannot get into the 'higher groups'.

2. Money. Others find they don't have the money to get started. A lot of places have monthly fees for you to join and start a blog. Blogger, Opera, LiveJournal, 360 etc.... all offer a place to blog for free. But I've met some that feel this isn't very professional - suck up if you ask me! Nothing wrong with being able to blog for free.

3. Ads. I agree, it's impossible to make money from ads on your site(s). Google AdSense, WidgetBucks and All Posters are just examples of ads we add to our blogs. Most people do not click on the adds... they seem to be there for show. I will keep mine - every little bit helps. I have met bloggers that decided to quit blogging because ads aren't paying off.

4. Time. Most popular answer is most find they don't have the time to blog. Things change in our lives, sometimes making it impossible to continue to do the things we love. Family, Job, Hobbies etc... this will end a blog.

5. Critics. Some will give in to peer pressure and criticism. People will give others bad reviews and a bad time... which can cause one to give up their blogs. I find most of this is caused over jealousy or a difference of opinion/beliefs. Me: I don't care if I make others mad with my blogs. Gives me more fuel to keep blogging.

6. Writers Block. A bad case of writer's block will terminate a blog fast. It happens to all writers and bloggers from time to time - but sometimes it seems to never end. The mind isn't free enough to think what to write about.

7. Bad Writing. Some find they aren't good writers or feel that way. This is usually caused by low self-esteem or just because they simply aren't good writers. And back to critics - some are told by others they suck so the writer/blogger will give up. I will blog anyway.... bad writing or not.

8. Payday. If you are a member of Pay-Per-Post [or another place similar] and you are not making money blogging this way, you will quit blogging. This is a sure fire way to kill a blogger. I just signed up to Pay-Per-Post but I can't start with them yet... my blog submitted isn't 90 days old LOL!

9. Not New. The Newness wears off. It was fun in the beginning and now seems old and worn. Time for a change something new. It's not fun any more.

10. No readers. Some find out they have no readers - they aren't sure how to promote their blogs to gain readers. This is [my guess] the number one reason bloggers quit.

I'm quite sure there are other ways to kill a blogger... but this is some of the most common ways.

Hendrix and Ledger

Heath Ledger's masseuse made 4 calls to Mary-Kate Olsen before calling 911 for help. ~Does thus sound familiar to anyone else? This reminds me of the death of Jimi Hendrix! Monika Dannemann was Jimi's girlfriend at the time. She's the one who found Jimi and called Eric Burdon before she called for an ambulance. Some reports say she called Burdon 3 or 4 times before he told her "Call for a fucking ambulance!" When I read what happened to with the masseuse the first person that came to mind was Monika! I don't know how many others out there thought of this too... I couldn't help it [being a fan of Jimi and Eric].

This blog is not about celebrities... but Heath's death is a hot story right now. I know there's a lot more going on in this world and will soon blog about it, but this is getting nuts. I don't have to blog all about what is going on with Ledger... you guys are reading it too. I just had to point out something similar between two famous deaths. Jimi and Heath will be greatly missed for many more years to come.

What an Insane World we live in. What more crazy stories will we hear surrounding the death of Heath Ledger?

Westboro Baptist Church (WBC)

This still does not excuse what they are doing to Heath Ledger! Heath's family needs to Sue the Shit out of the WBC for what they are also doing to him.

On October 31, 2007, a federal jury in Baltimore, Maryland, found the Topeka, Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) guilty of violating a right to privacy and inflicting intentional emotional distress against the family of Matthew Snyder, a Marine who was killed in Iraq in 2006. Since the summer of 2005, WBC, led by Fred Phelps, has been picketing funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, with placards reading "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" and "Thank God for IEDs [improvised explosive devices]," while shouting epithets at grieving parents. Phelps believes that the soldiers represent a nation tolerant of homosexuality, and their deaths are God's direct punishment for their sins.

The jury ordered WBC to pay nearly $11 million in damages, a sum members claim is many times more than the WBC’s net assets. Fred Phelps promised to appeal the verdict. This is the first time the church has been held liable for their military funeral protests; the father of Matthew Snyder was the first individual to attempt such a lawsuit against the group.

To date, the WBC’s protests have taken place in at least 22 states, attracting a great deal of publicity and inspiring a wave of grassroots anger. As a result, 38 states have introduced bills to limit protests near funerals, and at least 29 of those states have passed such measures. The constitutionality of these laws has been challenged in four states with mixed results. In addition, President Bush signed the “Respect for America’s Fallen Heroes Act” on May 29, 2006, which limits protests near certain military cemeteries. Phelps has vowed to challenge the legislation, alleging that these new restrictions unconstitutionally restrict freedom of speech.

Before gaining notoriety and provoking public anger for disrespecting slain soldiers and their families, the group was known for picketing the funerals of gay people or those they perceived to be gay. In 1998, WBC congregants set off an angry reaction when they showed up at the funeral of gay murder victim Matthew Shepard, and held up signs reading "No Fags in Heaven" and "God Hates Fags." According to the WBC Web site, they have staged "over 22,000" protests across the nation and around the world since 1991.

Incorporated in 1967 as a not-for-profit organization, the Westboro Baptist Church considers itself an "Old School (or, Primitive)" Baptist Church. The Church is led by the septuagenarian Reverend Fred Waldron Phelps Sr., and many WBC congregants are related to Phelps by blood. His wife, several of his children and dozens of his grandchildren frequent the church.

While WBC has picketed the gay community at hundreds of events nationwide, most of the individuals protested by the Church are not homosexual. In fact, WBC most often targets people it mistakenly claims are gay or those it believes to be encouraging homosexuality. Many WBC fliers emphasize the race or religion of these individuals, suggesting that the Church's hate spreads beyond its abhorrence of homosexuality. WBC congregants believe that "God's hatred is one of His holy attributes." What appears to be anti-gay rhetoric is often a vehicle for WBC's anti-Semitism, hatred of other Christians, and even racism, though in the 1980s Fred Phelps received awards from the Greater Kansas City Chapter of Blacks in Government and the Bonner Springs branch of the NAACP for his work on behalf of Black clients.

Trained as a lawyer, Fred Phelps was disbarred in 1979 by the Kansas Supreme Court, which asserted that he had "little regard for the ethics of his profession." The formal complaint against Phelps charged that he misrepresented the truth in a motion for a new trial in a case he had brought, and that he held the defendant in the case up to "unnecessary public ridicule for which there is no basis in fact." Following his disbarment from Kansas State courts, Phelps continued to practice law in Federal courts. In 1985, nine Federal court judges filed a disciplinary complaint charging him and six of his family members, all attorneys, with making false accusations against them. The Phelpses fought the complaint but lost. In 1989, Fred Phelps agreed to surrender his license to practice law in Federal court in exchange for the Federal judges allowing the other members of his family to continue practicing in Federal court.

In 1991, WBC staged its first public demonstration, targeting a park in Topeka allegedly frequented by gays. Thousands of protests have followed, and WBC shows no sign of slowing down. In addition to speeches on the picket lines, the Church spreads its hateful message via faxed fliers and "News Releases." These faxed documents also appear at WBC's notorious Web site, Godhatesfags.com, along with photos of Church pickets and a schedule of upcoming demonstrations. A second WBC Web site, Godhatesamerica.com, contends that the United States is "doomed" because it supports gays. According to Fred Phelps, "God invented the Internet for us to preach on."

The following quotations from WBC materials and other sources expose the Church's views on Jews, gays, Blacks, Christians and the United States. WBC's own words best demonstrate the wide range and disturbing nature of its hatred.

I received this from a friend that alerted all friends at MySpace to this 'News'. This is BULLSHIT! These people are NOT Christians nor do they know the meaning behind Christianity. I want to know, what right do they have to protest Heath's funeral?

Let me tell you - I am not a Christian but I do have friends that are. I respect my Christian friends. But this is not a friend nor a Christian doing this.

A little history on me: I grew up a Southern Baptist... eventually I changed faiths to Methodist then Catholic then Non-Denominational. About 8 years ago I became a what I am today, which is far from any Christian faith or belief. I speak here from experience.

The Christian God DOES NOT HATE FAGS! I thought He was a loving and forgiving God? I thought this God gave his only Son to die for our sins?

(Matthew 6:14-15 NKJV) "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. {15} "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

* If this is true, then this 'Churches' members will NOT be forgiven for their trespasses. Their faults will not go unnoticed by their God.

* Grow the Fuck-Up, get a fucking life and stop Judging others! All members of this Church will be judged, according to the Christian Bible.

Give me a freakin' break here! I wrote this 'Church' in protest against them! I can't wait for this battle to begin!

What self-righteous, self-adsorbing, self-loving fucking moron thought of this? They cannot understand their own bible?! Are they fucking stupid? Can they read? Can they understand? Will they grow-up? Are they brainwashed? Questions of all kinds are in my head. This makes me vomit!

Heath Ledger is 'going to Hell' because of a movie - Brokeback Mountain?! The WBC needs to get their heads out of their own asses and take a lesson from their own bible.
